Hu Yin,as a master of Neo-Confucianism during the two Song Dynasties, inherited the main principles of the traditional Confucianism: "The ancestors described Yao and Shun, and the charter of civil and military affairs".He combined the different social status of the two Song Dynasties, absorbed the thoughts of Confucius and Mencius,Ercheng,Hu Anguo, etc.,and reformed the prevailing orthodoxism of the Northern Song Dynasty with the "Spring and Autumn" doctrine.Hu Yin’s outstanding achievement lies in giving moral reason to the "orthodox" theory of the Southern Song Dynasty on the basis of "respecting the king".Hu Yin’s orthodoxy is mainly embodied in three aspects: the orthodoxy of respecting the king, the orthodoxy of fighting the barbarians, and the orthodoxy of living people’s lives. His orthodox theory not only sought the legitimacy of the Southern Song Dynasty regime from the "heavenly principle" that is,the "Bingyi" of the people’s heart, but also set up the criterion for the settlement of the Chinese ethnic group with the "etiquette culture".The first chapter tells the historical background and ideological origin of Hu Yin’s orthodoxy. The social reality of domestic troubles and foreign invasions in the Southern Song Dynasty inspired Hu Yin to write A Brief View on Reading History. The orthodoxy that flourished in the Northern Song Dynasty and the thought of "respecting the king and fighting against the nations" that the School of Cheng clan had always maintained were the source of Hu’s orthodoxy. At the beginning of the Song Dynasty,it paid attention to the merit as the criterion to judge the legitimacy of the dynasty, ignored the "righteousness" in the method of attaining the whole kingdom, and only paid attention to the reality of the whole kingdom in the sense of practical achievements. This judgment criterion has certain positive significance for the Northern Song Dynasty to govern "Tianxia" and settle "Tianxia".However, the criterion of judging the actual achievements was obviously not in line with the small court of the Southern Song Dynasty, which was unstable and settled in a corner of the country.Under the internal troubles and foreign troubles, the neo-Confucianism of the Southern Song Dynasty turned to seek the legitimacy of the succession of the successors of the Southern Song Dynasty and the legitimacy of the ruling from the Angle of justice. The second chapter analyzes the main content of Hu Yin’s orthodoxy. In the "Juzheng" as orthodoxy, two aspects of interpretation, from the Southern Song regime inherited the Northern Song Dynasty in blood,so it is orthodox. If the monarch wants to get the legitimacy of governing the world for a long time,he also needs a gentleman to cultivate morality and take the position of heaven with the virtue of heaven. In the argument of "fighting against Barbarians" as orthodoxy,it proves that "fighting against Barbarians" is orthodoxy through the argument of Yixia and the argument of worshiping Zheng. The third chapter tells the ways of Hu Yin’s orthodox theory. In order to realize the political ideal of the royal way,the monarch needs high moral cultivation, the monarch should be in line with the heaven and virtue, casting a monarch in line with the Confucian ideal personality and social pursuit. It mainly guides the monarch to achieve the "holy king" cause from three sections: self-cultivation,family consolidation and state governance. The first section tells the monarch self-cultivation,including sincere heart, sincere learning and pragmatic; The second section describes the monarch’s family, from the husband and wife relationship, father and son relationship analysis; The third section tells the monarch to rectify the main line of the dynasty, outside the military and political as a way to govern the country and strengthen the army. The fourth chapter tells the righteousness purport of Hu Yin’s orthodox theory. In discussing the legitimacy of the monarch,Hu Yin hoped that the monarch could consciously assume the responsibility of practicing the politics of the king. The political legitimacy of the monarch comes from the "duke" of the world. The monarch takes the life of the broadest living people as consideration to revive the politics of the king.Hu Yin brought "public" into the realm of heaven, took the principle of "public" as the yardstick of universal moral judgment, and extended it to the political field. The "public" runs through the source of political power, the establishment of political institutions, and the punishment of violating principles, forcing the monarch to cultivate morality and exercise power prudently. In order to realize the political ideal of the royal way,it advocated the value orientation of respecting the king and bullying, valuing justice over profit in the field of political life, and returned to the "rule of three generations".
