English Reading Anxiety, Reading Strategies And Their Impact On Reading Performance Among High School Student

High school students usually have serious anxiety in English learning,which seriously influences the students’ mastering of English knowledge.To tackle the above situation,this study combined with the teaching experience and practice through the investigation and analysis of anxiety behavior of high school students,hopes to draw lessons from others based on the results,to find out the influence factors analysis of students’ reading anxiety and the types of reading strategies,which are about whether there is a correlation between reading anxiety behavior and the use of reading strategies,whether there are significant differences in the use of reading strategies among high school students at low,medium and high levels of anxiety,and how reading anxiety and strategies affect their performance.This paper explores the relationship between English reading anxiety,reading strategies and reading performance in 630 senior high school students.Through the foreign language reading anxiety scale(FLRAS)and English Reading Strategy Scale(ERSS)of two questionnaires and a were investigated,using SPSS16.0 statistical tools to get the data for classification of subjects,objects of English reading anxiety of English reading strategies,relevance English reading scores and each other to do the system analysis.The data analysis results indicated that:(1)11.42% of the students have high levels of English anxiety in reading comprehension,72.38% of the students have a moderate level of English anxiety(2)in English reading,besides use metacognitive strategies,cognitive strategies and efficient strategies of high school students,and in different levels of anxiety,the use of reading strategies have significant differences,at a low level of anxiety in the subjects than the average level of anxiety(p<0.05)and higher levels of anxiety(p<0.05)subjects they are making use of reading strategies more frequently,moderate anxiety level of the subjects of high level anxiety subjects(p<0.05)in the use of reading strategies more frequently.(3)there is a negative correlation between reading anxiety and reading strategies,reading anxiety is negatively correlated with reading performance,and there is no significant correlation between reading strategies and reading strategies.It is found that reading anxiety can be negatively predicted by the use of reading strategies.
