In recent years,the concept of English teaching in China has been constantly innovated.Under the guidance of the core quality of English discipline,English teaching methods are also changing.As the main position to implement the core quality of English discipline,there are still some problems in English reading classes,such as fragmentation of text information,low level of activity thinking,fragmentation of text structure,rigid teaching model,utilitarianism of the examinations.These pain points seriously affect the improvement of English reading teaching efficiency and quality,and also seriously affect the achievement of the core quality goal of English discipline.Learning from the relatively mature teaching mode of group text reading in Chinese,English group text reading teaching is also rising.The teaching of group reading is a new reading teaching method,which breaks through the convention and leads from single text reading to multi text reading.Group text reading requires teachers to select a group of articles around one or more topics,and then teachers and students can read and construct collectively around the topics to reach a consensus.At present,the teaching of English group reading is more practiced in senior high school than in junior high school.The narrow sense of comprehensive language competence includes the competence of language users in pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,discourse,pragmatics and other aspects,while the broad sense of comprehensive language competence refers to the action competence,strategic competence,communicative competence of language users.This study is to study the practical effect of English group reading teaching in junior high school based on the narrow sense of English language comprehensive competence.In this study,81 students from a junior high school in Kunming were selected as the test subjects,and the method of combining qualitative research with quantitative research was used to carry out this study through literature research,test experiments,questionnaires,etc.The main research questions include: 1.Does the teaching of group text reading have a significant impact on junior high school students’ English reading competence and English language comprehensive competence? 2.Will the teaching of group reading affect junior high school students’ interest,attitude and confidence in English reading?After collecting and analyzing the data,the study finds that: the teaching of English group reading in junior middle school has a significant role in promoting students’ English reading competence and English language comprehensive competence;At the same time,after the teaching of group reading,students’ interest in English reading,reading attitude and reading confidence have also improved significantly.Therefore,this study proves that the teaching of group text reading in junior high school English can produce positive effects on students’ English learning,and provides referential experience for junior high school English teachers to carry out group text reading teaching. |
