Based on the input and output theory and the interactive alignment theory,this research studies the influence of senior high school students’ critical thinking disposition and cross-cultural awareness competence on their continuation writing.Aiming at knowing about the correlation among continuation writing,critical thinking,cross-cultural competence and their current conditions,the author conducted a questionnaire survey on 250 students in two controlled groups(three liberal arts classes and three science classes)of a senior high school in Liaoning Province by using the high school critical thinking questionnaire,the cross-cultural knowledge testing questionnaire,and the continuation writing scores of the two tests and methods of interview and experiment research to find out the answer.Based on the knowledge of the questionnaire,a three-month teaching experiment in one liberal class and one science class was carried out with the aim of finding an effective way to not only cultivate students’ critical thinking ability but also their cross-cultural awareness and ultimately facilitate the continuation writing scores.This study mainly analyzes the following two questions:1.What’s the present state of the senior high school students’ ability in critical thinking,cross-cultural awareness and writing ability in continuation writing? Is there any correlation among these three factors?2.To what degree can the critical thinking ability and English cross-cultural awareness influence the continuation writing scores respectively? To what degree can the two combined factors of the critical thinking ability and cross-cultural awareness influence the continuation writing scores?According to the study,there is a correlation between cross-cultural awareness and critical thinking ability and the two combined factors can also influence the continuation writing scores.Besides,the correlation effect is significant,which indicates that the joint development of cross-cultural ability and critical thinking ability can be facilitated to improve the score of continuation writing.What is more,teaching methods such as exploratory conversation 、 mutual evaluation in groups and multi-modal discourse can be applied jointly in teaching practice to create an efficient teaching model of continuation writing class.
