Compilation Of Collection Of Classical Chinese Novels From Dahe To Qianfu In Tang Dynasty And Research On Scholars’ Style

In the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty,especially during the fifty years from Wenzong Dahe(827)to Xizong Qianfu(879),many collections of classical Chinese novels were compiled into books.The editors of the collections of classical Chinese novels in this period were basically literati who entered the office,and their status as literati affected the compilation of the collection of classical Chinese novels,and the collection of classical Chinese novels also reflected the distinctive style of scholars.The collection of classical Chinese novels from Dahe to Qianfu,while inheriting the utilitarian compiling motives of the predecessors to make up for the history,decree and educate,and continue the previous book,widely appeared non-utilitarian motives for aesthetic entertainment.The collection of classical Chinese novels in period of Dahe to Qianfu has many sources,or from ancient books,to a certain degree of new events;or based on other people’s oral rumors;or based on the author’s personal experience;or based on reality.The content of compilation follows the tradition of the previous generation of tales of mystery and the supernatural as a whole,and the meaning of tales of mystery and the supernatural in some of the contents of the museum is weakened,and more tales of mystery and the supernatural and trivial matters and manner of speech and behavior are mixed in the same collection of classical Chinese novels.The characteristics of "History" and "Wen" are presented in the compilation of Dahe to Qianfu’s classical Chinese novels.The two concepts of "History" and "Wen" are mixed in the classical Chinese novels of this period,but more of them are mainly based on "History" or "Wen".The collection of classical Chinese novels compiled mainly with the concept of "History" absorbs the historical records,biography,"mutual view method" and praise and criticism,and mainly compiled with the concept of "Wen",have imaginary design,beautiful words and emotional expression.It is found retrospectively that under the combined effect of many factors,such as the tradition of the Tang people’s emphasis on history,the emphasis on history in the imperial examinations in the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty,the literary temperament contained in the historical narrative itself,and the retention of the artificial poetry of the Middle and Late Tang scholars,the two concepts of "History" and "Wen" influenced the compilation of Dahe to Qianfu’s collection of classical Chinese novels.The official status of the compilers of classical Chinese novels from Dahe to Qianfu determines the close relationship between the compilation of classical Chinese novels and scholar style.The writers of scholars were in the turbulent situation of the Middle and Late Tang Dynasty.It is found that the scholar in the classical Chinese novels from Dahe to Qianfu sighed and suffered in the chaotic political situation,went to work,and it was difficult to pass the Imperial Examination,so they retreated and comforted themselves with the idea of destiny.At the same time,they longing for Taoyuan Hutian,and yearning for seclusion.Scholars either forged ahead or retired in officialdom,with inner contradictions;however,they showed a unified and progressive attitude in marriage,love and friendship.And the scholar’s pursuit of immortality is actually an escape from the real world.
