Sino-Korean Comparison Of Refusal Speech Acts

The speech act of refusal exists objectively in our life.When facing requests,proposals,and invitations,we will express opposition and refuse them if we do not want to accept them.Refusing others in a polite,standardized and reasonable manner in communication helps maintain a harmonious relationship between the two parties.From the perspective of pragmatics,this paper intends to take Austin and Searle’s speech act theory as the theoretical basis for the study,selects Chinese and Korean TV drama lines as the corpus,examines the range of the speech act of refusal to that of secondary refusal,and carries out a systematic and comprehensive investigation and analysis of the speech act of refusal in Chinese and Korean.This paper analyzes the characteristics and differences in the expression of the speech act of second rejection and the choice of refusal strategy between Chinese and Korean,and discusses the commonality and individuality of the implementation of the strategy of the speech act of refusal in Chinese and Korean.On the basis of summarizing the similarities and differences of Chinese and Korean expressions of the speech act of refusal,this paper explores the deep cultural motives,such as the social,psychological and national personality and other factors,which affect the Chinese and Korean ethnic groups to use the expression of the speech act of refusal,thus forming commonalities and differences.The research in this paper is conducive to advancing the study of the speech act of refusal in Chinese and Korean,helping deepen the understanding of Chinese and Korean cultures,realizing efficient cross-cultural verbal communication,and also providing reference and help for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This chapter is divided into four parts.The first chapter is the introduction.It mainly states the research purpose and meaning of this paper,the source of the corpus,etc.,and then briefly reviews the general situation of the research on speech act of refusal,and explains the research method.The second chapter intends to compare from the perspective of pragmatics the conventional expressions of Chinese and Korean expressions of refusal from three aspects: refusal of leading words,of head words,and of auxiliary words,objectively analyzes the surface text structure,and investigates the rules and characteristics of the structures of the refusal language and the second refusal language in Chinese and Korean.The third chapter mainly analyzes the pragmatic strategies of refusal in Chinese and Korean and their structural classification,summarizes the common refusal methods and strategies of the speech act of refusal in Chinese and Korean,and examines the selection changes in the strategies of the second speech act of refusal among the three contextual factors of "invitation,request,and proposal".The fourth chapter,on the basis of the first two chapters,analyzes the cultural psychology of the strategies of the speech act of refusal in Chinese and Korean.The purpose is to discuss the deep cultural motives that form the commonality and difference of the strategies of the speech act of refusal in Chinese and Korean,and Act of Secondary Refu to analyzes them mainly from three aspects: thinking modes,values,and cultural differences in address language.Finally,in the conclusion part,the main points of this paper are summarized and the limitations of this paper and the issues that require further research are pointed out.
