A Study Of Xu Dishan’s Novels From The Perspective Of Feminist Criticism

Xu Dishan is a famous modern Chinese novelist and one of the pioneers of the New literature movement during the May fourth Movement.As a member of the writers group of the Literature Research Association,Xu Dishan practises the concept of "for life".His novels are unique in their romantic creation style and mysterious religious imagination,and elaborate on the philosophical thinking of life,which has received extensive attention and discussion in the academic circle.The female image construction in Xu Dishan’s novels reflects a certain sense of male power.Women in Xu Dishan’s works are the symbol of divinity.Under the influence of male discourse,women become the image of the other under the rule of men.From the perspective of feminist literary criticism,this paper will make an in-depth study of the female images in Xu Dishan’s novels,analyze the relationship between female writing and male discourse in Xu Dishan’s novels,discuss Xu Dishan’s view of women and his concern for the fate of women,and then explore the male writers’ imagination and construction of women in the May 4th Movement.Xu Dishan is a writer with unique style,in his novels,the main characters are mostly female images.He chose women as his creative perspective,on the one hand,he was influenced by personal emotional experience,on the other hand,he was influenced by a variety of religious cultures.With the rise of the women’s liberation movement during the May4 th movement,the issue of women’s liberation gradually attracted attention.Under the enlightenment discourse,men gradually became the mentors and father and brother of women,and began to construct female images.Due to the influence of male discourse,women did not realize the real sense of liberation.From the gender writing of Xu Dishan’s novels,he created vivid characters.Xu Dishan pays attention to the fate of women,and his female images have noble personality,which embodies his unique female worship.The male images in his works are the makers of female tragedies and ideal men worshipped by women.In his novels,Xu Dishan constructs a female myth.He places women in the male ideology,showing the expectation of women in the male-centered society,and women become "female slaves" under the control of men.Xu dishan’s novel has taken a unique female writing strategy,whether it is "suffering" narrative pattern,the legendary narrative plot,or it is a male rhetoric,reflect the xu dishan a concern for the fate of women,but women under the male perspective of xu dishan,become a medium to express his ideas,his attitude and thinking about life.In the novel,Xu Dishan did not pay attention to the life experience of women,so that the female image becomes empty and does not have the strength of life,and the novel forms a situation dominated by male discourse and the lack of female discourse power.In general,as the may fourth period system of advanced intellectuals,he did not get rid of the influence of male center mind-set,he will be women tool,make female slave,no attention to women’s life experience and feelings,the lack of stereo feeling,so that his image of women is difficult to arouse people to ponder on the fate of women.Male writers of the May 4th Movement imagined and constructed women from different angles.Although there was no obvious and effective method,they still tried to find a way out for women’s liberation.
