| At the end of the last century,Margalit’s and Honneth’s concept of dignity aroused extensive discussion and research in the academic circle.The concept of dignity of the two has given a very important inspiration to construct the concept of dignity adapted to modern society.Starting from the community,Margalit’s concept of dignity starts from the community,and discusses his understanding of the concept of dignity,that is,dignity originates from the species of human beings,and discusses the concepts of "human being","environmental group(community)","decent society","honor","rights and obligations" around this concept,using "humiliation" as a line to connect concepts with each other,successfully arguing that individual dignity and community dignity are inseparable,and confirming the feasibility and urgency of building a decent society.Honneth’s concept of dignity was established on the basis of inheriting and absorbing the ideas of Hegel,Mead,Sorrell,Sartre,Marx and other scholars.Based on the theories of other scholars,he promoted the research and development in the field of dignity,and drew on Hegel’s inter-subjectivity theory,Mead’s supplementary theory of Hegel’s social psychology,Marx’s residual value theory,Sorrell’s idea of “ a better life” and Sartre’s concept of “neuroticism”...In essence,he divides the process of individual integration into three progressive stages,and divides dignity into three stages corresponding to the three stages of individual integration into society.Community dignity is born in this process.He successfully discussed the view that defending individual dignity must defend the dignity of the community,and the two are inseparable.Honneth wants to use“solidarity”to guide society to become an ideal society in which every individual can realize his or her full development and live a life of dignity.Based on their similar life experiences and the foundation of the concept of dignity,their concepts of dignity are based on the community perspective.However,their different research ideas make them have a different focus on dignity.Margalit’s concept of dignity emphasizes on defending individual dignity,while Honneth emphasizes on defending community dignity.Through the research,it is found that the two views of dignity are complementary,and the complementary view of dignity can better adapt to modern society,help to eliminate undesirable social phenomena,and solve social-ethical problems. |
