Application And Practice Of Chinese Ancient Myths Theme In Contemporary Murals

As an important category of public art,the contemporary mural is endowed with diversified themes,demonstrating the cultural forms and life of the day.Since the ancient myth of China is a major theme of ancient murals,its existence is worthy to be focused in contemporary murals.However,problems are spotted both in the development of Chinese ancient myths and contemporary murals.As a mural theme,the application of Chinese ancient myths in contemporary murals is unsatisfactory and theoretical research is lacked.This thesis explores the relationship between Chinese traditional culture and contemporary art so as to integrate them together and further,provides references for the contemporary murals with Chinese ancient murals as the themes.The research conducted in this thesis is divided into three stages with a pattern of“review and conclude,summarize and analyze,practice and discuss”.First,through a review of the production and changes of Chinese ancient myths and its application as a theme in ancient murals.The significance of its existence is ensured,the connection between ancient murals with ancient myths as themes and contemporary murals and its effects are clarified.Additionally,the development process of applying Chinese ancient myths in contemporary murals is summarized.To evoke reawakening of people on the application of Chinese ancient myths in contemporary murals by analyzing its painting language,expression features,significance and artistic values.Ultimately,take the mural“Tale of the White Snake” as an example to explore the new vitality of contemporary murals combined with Chinese ancient myths through the methods of practice and discussion.Contemporary mural as the continuation and successor of ancient mural,the usage of Chinese ancient myths is not a repetition of ancient mural art.With the popularity of Chinese culture,we should carry forward the uniqueness and superiority of contemporary murals with Chinese ancient myths,confirm national cultural confidence and create contemporary murals with Chinese spirit and style.Figure 45;Table 1;Reference 42...
