This paper takes Bi Feiyu’s Three Sisters and Howard Goldblatt’s English translation Three Sisters as the research object.A comparative analysis of the translation of culture-loaded terms in these two books based on the relevance of information intention and communicative intention, the presentation of contextual implicature and the enrichment of contextual assumption is elaborated to achieve the optimal relevance as perspectives. In this thesis, typical examples are selected under five categories, including material culture-loaded terms, social culture-loaded terms, linguistic culture-loaded terms, ecological culture-loaded terms, and religious culture-loaded terms through the case analysis method, and finally the applicability and interpret ability of this theory in the translation process of culture-loaded terms are examined. It is found that in the translation process of such terms, the translator mainly adopts four translation methods to achieve optimal relevance, include established equivalent, amplification, literal translation, and free translation to achieve optimal relevance. And the writer found that three dimensions of relevant patterns can be selected in translating culture-loaded terms.First is the relevance of objective information.Second is the cognitive relevance of words between the author and the readers of the translated text. And third is the relevance in terms of cultural context.
