A Study On The Southern Spread Of Wu Style Taijiquan(1928-1937)

In modern China,where the ancient and the modern are mixed with the Chinese and the western,many boxing styles of Chinese martial arts shoulder the great responsibility of The Times in the way of modern reform in the call of The Times to save the nation from extinction and to strengthen the nation.Among them,the development strategy of Wu style Taijiquan in the process of spreading to the south is quite representative,and its popular development represents the practice path of serving the "strong country and strong breed" with the modernization reform of boxing.In the face of the existing research this study will be more modern martial arts simply equated with the status quo of sports-oriented,gymnastics,and guided by "what is a martial arts modern mainstream" for the problem,by the methods of documentary,the oral historical materials,the fieldwork method and logic analysis and other research methods,using the perspective of micro analysis during the period of the Republic of China of Wu style Taijiquan martial arts modernization process southern,and draw the following conclusions.First,due to Shanghai’s status as the financial center of East Asia in modern times,Wu style Taijiquan in the South took advantage of the advertising industry and publishing industry of Shanghai’s commercial development,and formed commercial development modes such as commercial operation of community organizations and commercial publicity with the support of business elites.Its commercial development not only realized the steady development of Wu style Taijiquan spreading south to Shanghai,but also set up a good brand image,and laid a foundation for the improvement of sports and the internalization of technology.Second,in the national body reconstruction movement,Wu style Taijiquan after the Southern Movement not only maximizes the various groups into the fist giving object,but also improves the teaching method with the goal of universalization,and explains its principles in sports with modern knowledge of sports biomechanics,physiology and psychology.Its sports-oriented communication strategy not only expanded the spread of Wu style Taijiquan in the South,but also widely promoted the idea of "strengthening the nation and strengthening the seed".Third,because Shanghai is the important town of jiangnan culture in modern times,Wu style Taijiquan Southern spread has carried on the southern processing of "delicacy","intention" and "etiquette" of external technology and inner mind respectively.The southward treatment of Wu style Taijiquan makes the southward transmission of Wu style Taijiquan not only a process of both physical and mental transformation,but also a development process of precipitation and finalization of its technical methods.Finally,this study considers that the process of spreading Wu style Taijiquan to the south is a new practice of modernization under the background of the "strong country and strong species" era,the combination of functional development and ontological development,and the unity of popularization and improvement.This is not only the experience of Wushu modernization,but also the tradition to be inherited and carried forward in the new era.
