| Found in the Tibetan sub-ethnic group in southwest Sichuan,"Sending souls to The Map Sutra" is the Bon scripture used by priests to guide the route of sending souls to the dead in funeral and transcendental ceremonies. Our predecessors have done some translation and research based on the oral dictation of local priests and the literal meaning of Tibetan, but local priests can no longer interpret Tibetan, there are a large number of abbreviations and different characters, and the translation did not take into account the cultural background of Bon Religion,so there are a lot of problems to be discussed. From the perspective of Bon culture, this paper makes a new research on the translation and discussion of "Sending souls to The Map Sutra".First of all, this paper makes textual research on the key words of The Bon religion, ghost system and ritual, summarizes the characters rules such as abbreviations, foreign languages and local grammar habits, and on this basis carries out translation and preliminary research on the Tibetan content. The content of "Soul Sending Map Sutra" can be divided into four parts according to the stage of the soul: the first is through the purification road, open the door of ancestral land; The second is to drive away evil spirits, and across the netherworld; The third part is to reach the ancestral land and meet the ancestors. The fourth part is the spirit of the soul into the word "(?)",into the eternal paradise. The specific content not only absorbed the content of primitive Bon religion, but also was influenced by Yongzhong Bon.And the literature contains a large number of abbreviations and variants,as well as grammatical errors. The most of the deitiesof "Soul Sending Map Sutra" are sgra-bla,gnyan,and wer-ma in the early period of Bon religion,as well as the ancestors in the first ancestor myth.Although some ancestors and gods remains to be proven, but this paper has proven like r Ma-gnyan-pom-ra,g Nyan-rgan-de-ba,and b Zhag-bra-lha-rtse can prove that the direction of the sending souls is the northwest, this consistent with some experts and scholars view that ethnic groups of southwest Sichuan Tibetan are part of the ancient Qiang people and The Tanguts people from Qinghai and Gansu moved south. |
