Modern political essays have inherited the fine tradition of ancient political essays and integrated the characteristics of modern times,which have made outstanding achievements in ideology and artistic creation and provided useful references for the creation of political essays in later generations.Among modern political essays,women’s political essays are a part that has been neglected in the past but has important achievements and characteristics.Women’s political essays,also known as the "new style of women’s writing",are mostly based on the themes of promoting women’s studies,making women nationals,and fighting for women’s participation in politics,etc.The essays are full of emotion,simple and fluent in language,good at moving people with emotion,and rich in life.Among modern female political writers,Hu Binxia is one of the more representative ones.She was one of the few advanced intellectual women who had received a systematic Western education and was praised by Hu Shih as "a rare figure in the new women’s world".This paper intends to examine Hu Binxia’s political prose from the perspective of her life,creative activities and the ideological content and artistic characteristics of her political prose,with a view to filling the gaps in the current study of Hu Binxia and providing reference for the study of modern women’s political prose.This paper is divided into four chapters.The introductory section outlines the current status,purpose and significance of the research on this topic.The first chapter compares the development of Chinese political essays,the emergence and development trajectory of modern female political essays,and the basic style of modern female political essays.Chapter 2 explores Hu Binxia’s biographical experience,his ideological origins,and the basics of his editorial career and political essay writing.Chapter 3 places Hu Binxia’s political essays in the historical context of modern women’s education,the feminist movement and the rise of women’s literature,and elaborates on the main contents of Hu’s political essays from four aspects:advocacy of women’s studies and concern for current affairs,the "new women of the twentieth century" educational ideology,improvement of the family and scientific thought.Chapter 4 summarizes the creative characteristics of Hu Binxia’s political prose,and evaluates his achievements and shortcomings in political prose. |
