With the development of China and the progress of Chinese society,Chinese local culture will also become more and more influential.Literature is a channel to understand a country and a nation. The development of Chinese local literature abroad and into the world has become a global trend. The original text of this translation practice,To Live not Just to be Alive, belongs to local literature.Focusing on the villages and towns in Guizhou, this novel describes rural life and local culture, and tells about the living state and spiritual state of farmers in the 1990’s.The author of this translation report aims to make the people of the world feel the charm of Chinese local novels and feel the Chinese local society and humanity. This translation practice, from the perspective of literary stylistics theory, focuses on how the author expresses and strengthens the thematic meaning and aesthetic effect through the choice of language, and aims to be faithful to the style of the novel and maximize the reproduction of the content and form of the original text.Based on the literariness of the translated text, the author correctly handles the "foregrounding" language phenomenon in the original novel by analyzing the relevance between the language of the original text and the thematic meaning. In terms of stylistic analysis at the lexical level, strategies such as literal translation and free translation can be adopted to maximize the representation of lexical style through language selection;in terms of foregrounding analysis at the syntactic level, for repetitive sentences and parallel structured sentences, full consideration is given to cultural differences and language habits between Chinese and English, and strategies such as amplification and variable order method are mainly adopted to achieve sentence coherence and fluent translation;and in terms of stylistic analysis at the rhetorical level, the strategies of literal translation and free translation should be flexibly adopted to convey the artistic effects of rhetoric in the original text and avoid the loss of stylistic value of the novel text.In this practice,it is found that in order to maximize the artistic effect and thematic significance of the original text in the translation, the translator should try to restore the stylistic style of the novel in translation, correctly analyze and understand the language with "foregrounding" characteristics and rhetorical devices of meaning, and reproduce the linguistic features of the original text through translation. The value of this report lies in the fact that the theory of literary stylistics plays an important guiding role in the translation practice of Chinese local novels through the English translation of Chinese local novels. At the same time,it helps Chinese literary works to go global. In addition, the author hopes to provide a certain reference for the translation practice of the same type.
