Around the 1970s,influenced by the development of economy, science and technology, some new cultural phenomena appeared in western society. This new cultural situation shows the combination of culture and commodity production. As consumer goods, elegant works of art are integrated into the process of production and sales, then widely enter the society and people’s daily life.As a post-modern cultural theory researcher,Fredric Jameson placed cultural issues in the context of social and historical development.Proceeding from the social facts of the late capitalist stage of western society, and combining with the characteristics of social and economic development,he explored the mechanism of interaction between cultural trends and social production methods, presenting the main characteristics and development logic of post-modern culture.Based on the reality of cultural development,Jameson first proposed "no sense of depth" in Postmodernism,or the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism, and critically studied it as the main feature of post-modern culture. This paper takes Jameson’s postmodern culture "no sense of depth" theory as the research object. The introduction mainly introduces the research background, significance, contents, methods and literature review at home and abroad. The first chapter of the text outlines the context of the emergence of postmodern culture, that is,the background of the times and the theoretical origin. The second chapter specifically studies the connotation of "no sense of depth" as a feature of post-modern culture, analyzes the "no sense of depth" mode in other features of post-modern culture, such as "the disappearance of emotion","schizophrenia","plagiarism, patchwork and imitation",and "the disappearance of sense of distance",and explains with examples of specific post-modern art works in the fields of painting, film and architecture,so as to grasp the specific situation of post-modern culture. The "sense of no depth" of post-modern culture was deeply reflected the cultural logic of late capitalism. The third chapter deeply analyzes the formation mechanism of "no sense of depth".Based on Jameson’s theory of cultural staging and the theory of late capitalist cultural logic,it studies the period, essence, reason and final purpose of the formation of "no sense of depth".The fourth chapter,on the basis of theoretical analysis, expounds the value and limitations of Jameson’s postmodern culture "no sense of depth" theory, and explores its practical value for the development of China’s current cultural construction.
