In the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,idiom teaching aims to effectively improve students’ ability to use Chinese,guide students to fully approach and understand Chinese culture through idioms,enhance their interest in learning Chinese,and better conduct interpersonal communication is crucial.By studying the process of idiom teaching,introducing the story teaching method into classroom teaching,and using stories as clues to integrate idiom teaching,historical and cultural backgrounds,and the promotion of story plots,it can not only fully enhance students’ interest in learning idioms,but also effectively enhance the actual effect of idiom teaching and promote the realization of teaching objectives.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the application of story teaching method in teaching Chinese idioms as a foreign language.This paper focuses on the relevant issues related to the application of story teaching method in the teaching of Chinese idioms as a foreign language.It consists of six parts: The first part is an introduction,which mainly explains the basis and significance of the topic selection,classifies the research status at home and abroad,and introduces the research purpose,content,and methods of this paper;The second part elaborates the theory of story teaching method.Based on a comprehensive study of the definition of story and story teaching method,the theoretical basis,origin,and development of story teaching method,it analyzes and summarizes the feasibility of story teaching method in teaching Chinese idioms as a foreign language.The third part clarifies the definition,characteristics,and types of errors of idioms,and analyzes the presentation of idioms in the "Syllabus of Chinese Proficiency in Vocabulary and Chinese Characters" and the HSK exam,laying a good foundation for subsequent research on instructional design.The fourth part summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of idioms in teaching Chinese as a foreign language based on the analysis of the selection of idioms in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The fifth part,based on the above theoretical analysis,proposes the application strategies of story teaching method in idiom teaching.In the sixth part,I selected three argumentative and narrative articles from "Developing Advanced Reading in Chinese"(Volume 1 and Volume 2),and designed personalized and differentiated teaching plans based on the different roles and unfolding methods of the story.
