As one of the most important deities in the Cantonese belief system,Guan Gong has had a profound influence on the folk art of the Guangdong region.First,this thesis discusses the characteristics of Guan Gong’s images in Foshan woodblock new year picture.By comparing Guan Gong woodblock new year picture from other regions with those from Foshan,the thesis explains the similarities,differences and interconnections between the woodblock new year picture of Guan Gong from different regions.The thesis then further analyses the formation,development and change process of the pattern style of Guan Gong images.The thesis then discusses Guan Gong motif styles in the field of minority cultures.The beliefs of Guan Gong as a Chinese culture were accepted by the ethnic minorities and added to their belief system,resulting in the formation of Guan Gong images that incorporate the culture of the ethnic minorities.Finally,by comparing and analysing Guan Gong images from minority areas with those from other areas,this thesis explains the cultural concepts and cultural exchange of Guan Gong images as a folk art phenomenon. |
