The investigation activities of Japanese imperialism into the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia can be traced back to the early 19 th century.Since then, according to the signing of the Treaty of Potsmos between Japan and Russia, the Japanese military has truly carried out investigations into the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia, and has published various types of investigation materials and publications. In 1931,the Japanese invading army launched the shocking "918" invasion of China, and established the puppet Manchukuo in Changchun in 1932.Some areas of Inner Mongolia were also under its actual control. In order to satisfy its ambition to invade China,Japanese imperialism continued its so-called "Manchu Mongolian" expansion policy. After the situation in the eastern Inner Mongolia region became "stable",the Japanese army formulated and gradually implemented the "Inner Mongolia Work" to expand into the western region of Inner Mongolia in the spring of 1933.In order to achieve the goal of comprehensively controlling the strategic area in the western Inner Mongolia politically, militarily, economically, ideologically and culturally, the Japanese invaders established the puppet regime of Manchuria in 1937.At this time, the Japanese army’s investigation activities in Inner Meng Jiang were extended to the western region of Inner Mongolia. The investigation activities covered a wide range, and many investigation materials and publications were published.Based on the above understanding, this paper selects the (?)aqar (?)ilinγol area as the research object for the investigation of the Japanese army in the pastoral area of Inner Mongolia, and from the "Revolution of 1911",the establishment of the Mengjiang Puppet Rigame, the victory of the Anti Japanese War as the dividing point, taking the investigation data of the relevant investigation institutions of the Japanese army as the clue, through screening and consulting relevant documents and collecting historical archives of Inner Mongolia,The author discusses the historical background, investigation institutions, investigation activities, and main publications of the Japanese military’s investigation of the (?)aqar (?)ilinγol area during three different periods. Finally, evaluate the relationship and significance of the Japanese military’s investigation into the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia. The investigation and research conducted by the Japanese military on the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia is,on the one hand, conclusive evidence of Japan’s invasion of the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia, recording the atrocities of Japanese imperialism against China and a true history of China-Japanese relations. On the other hand,it is also a true portrayal of the socio-economic evolution of the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia at that time, reflecting the actual economic situation, social customs and cultural history of the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia at that time,It is a database that records the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia at that time, with many resources that are still valuable and worth developing and utilizing to this day.
