| American independent filmmaker Wes Anderson is an explorer who elevates film to the heights of human thought,He has great personal characteristics and bold innovation in film creation.He contains many thoughts on life and history in his films,making his works fit the realistic problems and the pulse of The Times.Space is an important factor influencing the self-construction of the characters in Wes Anderson’s films.The change of space has reversed the thinking mode of the characters.Therefore,it is of great significance to interpret the connotation of Wes Anderson’s works from the perspective of space.This paper takes the spatial narrative as the perspective,Based on Edward W.Sawyer’s theory of the Third Space,To explore spatial narrative functions,the characteristics of spatial settings and the spatial significance of "the third dimension" in Wes Anderson’s films.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,there are five chapters in the main body of this paper.The introduction introduces Wes Anderson’s creation and the research status of his works at home and abroad in detail,points out the research methods and innovations of this paper,finally expounds the third space theory of Edward W.Sawyer,and then points out the feasibility of this study.The first chapter from the French New Wave,Postmodernism and life experience three dimensions of Wes Anderson’s film space narrative generation context of a comprehensive induction and study,The second chapter takes Edward W.Sawyer’s theory of the third space as a reference to discuss in detail the spatial presentation in Wes Anderson’s films.The first space is the physical scene space,which is the place carrying the story and the objective existence of the film spatial narrative.The second space is the spiritual space,which is an important spiritual bridge connecting the director and the audience.The third space makes a new interpretation of the spatial narrative of Wes Anderson’s films from the spatial perspective of "the pluralism",mainly discusses from cultural space,power space,imagination space and exotic space,so as to propose more possibilities for people to understand the spatial narrative of Wes Anderson’s films.The third chapter discusses the artistic function of Wes Anderson’s film space narrative,which reveals the deeper connotation and implication of the film from the three aspects of space image,space rhetoric and space aesthetic.The film space after artistic treatment contains greater dramatic tension,which makes the characters more hierarchical and rich.The fourth chapter starting from the setting characteristics,highlights the unique style of Wes Anderson’s film space narrative with diversified space narrative structure and stylized space constituent elements.The fifth chapter interprets the value and significance of Wes Anderson’s film space narration,and explores the realistic significance of Wes Anderson’s film space narration to the society and the enlightenment significance to Chinese films.Finally,through the conclusion,it summarizes the research of Wes Anderson’s film space narrative.Wes Anderson uses distinctive narrative methods to convey his understanding of family,society and history.This paper studies Wes Anderson’s films from the perspective of spatial narrative,hoping to provide a more novel perspective for Webster’s film studies and contribute to the selection and construction of space in future Chinese film and television works. |
