The modern city was a city with a special identity in the process of Chinese modernization.It was both a World’s Fair Metropolis with a strong colonial colour and a typical representative of the most distinctive features of Chinese globalization and modernization,it is called "Paris of the East".No matter at that time or later,the writing endows Shanghai with complex and diverse cultural imagination,showing its many "Modern faces".In particular,Shanghai in the 1930 s has become the object of much interest for scholars and scholars,this "Magic" metropolis is full of text imagination and narration,which constructs the historical space-time and cultural memory of modern Shanghai,this includes the "Shanghai writing" of the 1930 s leftist novel.In 1930,the left-wing Writers Union was established.The left-wing writers integrated into the urban literary world as pioneers,shouldering the mission of social reform by means of literature and art,in the confrontation of political ideology,the collision between revolutionary culture and modern fashion,and the psychological conflict between urban and rural culture,the distinctive urban picture has become a unique landscape in Shanghai.This thesis takes the Shanghai Urban Novels of the leftist writers in the period of the leftist literature movement as the research object,and cuts in from the research angle of "The city in literature",looking back on the writing of the leftist writers in Shanghai in the 1930 s,this paper tries to present the stage features of the leftist urban novel creation in the turning point period,and analyzes its significance in the development of modern and contemporary Chinese literature.The article is divided into three parts.The introduction part briefly introduces the origin of this thesis and explains the connotation of "City","metropolis","Shanghai writing" and "Literary geography",on this basis,this paper combs the present situation of the study on Shanghai writing,and discusses the research ideas and research methods to be adopted in this paper.The first chapter focuses on the geographical and cultural space of Shanghai from 1930 to 1936,and restores the literary scene where the writing of the left-wing novel took place in Shanghai,in order to clarify the external environment of Shanghai City,the activities of leftist writers,urban novel text creation of the inherent relationship between the three.Chapter two,this paper focuses on the urban novels published by such leftist writers as Mao Dun,Hu Yepin,Jiang Guangci,Yin Fu,Zhang Tianyi,Peng Jiahuang,Sha ting,Ye Zi and Wu Zuxiang from 1930 to 1936,explore "Under the eaves of Shanghai" private living space and to the road,factories,parks as a representative of the public space of space representation,to reproduce the colorful urban life of all classes,thus,it summarizes the multiple images of the cities in the left-wing novels,which are both "Heaven","Hell" and "The cradle of Revolution".In the third chapter,the author synthesizes the ambiguities of the city which the leftist writers both hate and adore,and the life experiences of the characters,such as shock,delight,timidity,disgust,marginalization and so on,to further explore the complex emotional value orientations of the left-wing metropolis texts,such as disclosure and care,criticism and sympathy,revolution and enlightenment,etc.This paper analyzes the artistic experience of the narrative mode,grand narration and binary metaphor in the left-wing urban novels.The conclusion summarizes the implication and cultural value of "Shanghai" written by leftist writers from 1930 to 1936,and reveals the existing problems and the contents to be further developed.
