Abstract/Summary:
There are various images of Fuxi Nu Wa in murals,silk paintings,stone statues,bricks,wood paintings and bronze mirrors.Compared with the image of Fuxi Nu Wa with holding objects,the image of Fuxi Nu Wa with holding objects accounts for a large proportion in the image of Fuxi Nu Wa with holding objects(Note: Among the more than 200 images of Fuxi Nu Wa in the Han Dynasty,the image of Fuxi Nu Wa with holding objects accounts for 62%and that with holding objects accounts for 38%).On the other hand,the combination of Fuxi and Nu Wa and the objects they hold is diverse,such as the combination of Fuxi holding the sun and Nu Wa holding the moon,and the combination of Fuxi holding the moon and Nu Wa holding the sun.Taking the image of Fuxi and Nu Wa holding the sun and moon as an example,the combination relation of Fuxi and Nu Wa holding the sun and moon includes the combination of Fuxi holding the sun and Nu Wa holding the moon,as well as the combination of Fuxi holding the moon and Nu Wa holding the sun.The misplacement of the combination of the figure and the object in the image of Fuxi and Nuwa in Han Dynasty not only reflects the idea of Yin and Yang trading,but also reflects the idea of the gods in Han Dynasty.The images of Fuxi and Nuwa in different spatial positions of the tomb represent different meanings and connotations.Like the door of the tomb,Fuxi and Nuwa holding Zhicao and Jiahe represent the meaning of auspicious.The image of Fuxi Nuwa holding the sun and the moon at the front and back of the sarcophagus is the symbol of heaven.The images of Fuxi and Nuwa with different gestures have unique aesthetic value and reflect the crafty composition of craftsmen in the Han Dynasty.Fuxi Nu Wa holding the sun and the moon with both hands is often seen in vertical composition,while Fuxi Nu Wa holding a single hand is often seen in symmetrical composition.The gesture of Fuxi Nu Wa holding up the sun and moon with both hands expresses the worship of the Han Dynasty people.Meanwhile,Fuxi Nu Wa holding up the sun and moon is also a symbol of Fuxi Nu Wa’s divine power.The image of Fuxi and Nuwa,a holding object,is an integral part of the ascending immortal figure in the tomb art,which expresses the owner’s desire for ascending immortal.The image of Fuxi Nuwa,a relic of the Han Dynasty,is a profound interpretation of the society and ideology of the Han Dynasty,and has inspired and influenced the artistic creation and painting style of the later generations.
