"2021 Qualcomm Technology And Cooperation Summit" Chinese-English Simultaneous Interpretation Practice Repor

This report is based on a Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation of the“Qualcomm China Tech Day 2021”held in Beijing in May.The summit focuses on the technology and cooperation to showcase the latest 5G innovations.After listening to the recording and transcribing the interpreted text,the author analyzed the difficulties and challenges during interpretation from three aspects,such as redundancy of target language,illogical interpretation and disfluencies.Also,some interpreting strategies are proposed such as condensation,referencing and substitution,information recombination,revealing the implicit logic,chunking and addition.By doing so,the accuracy of target language can be improved.After the practice,the author’s interpreting competence has been improved.At the same time,it is hoped that the interpreting strategies can provide a helpful reference for the difficulties of Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation.
