| With the development of social economy,the public are paying more and more attention to the disclosure of non-financial information of enterprises,and the emergence of sustainability report can meet the public’s needs well.Enterprises’ sustainability report,also called social responsibility report or environmental,social and governance report,is mainly used to show the performance and advantages of sustainable development of enterprises to the public through providing assessment of environment,society and economy,which determines the evaluative characteristics of the report.Therefore,this research takes Martin’s appraisal theory as the framework,selects 20 sustainability reports of international cruise enterprises,and combines quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis to carry out positive discourse analysis of the collected corpus,aiming to interpret the positive content in the reports through the appraisal resources in the reports,so as to analyze the way in which the reports achieve positive discourse.It is found through the research that the use of attitude system in the sustainability reports of cruise enterprises is the most prominent,and the three subsystems are not independent but interwoven.From the theoretical level,this research enriches the research of appraisal theory,and is also a useful supplement to the analysis of positive discourse;from the practical level,it provides certain references for the future compilation of sustainability report,and even the writing of business English or English for special purpose. |
