In the poetic hubbub at the turn of the 1980 s and 1990 s,the return of the classical poetic tradition began to move from the submerged stream to the surface,and the trend of returning to the classical poetic tradition was implied in the diverse and erratic poetic explorations.Among them,Zhang Zao’s poetry is considered a representative poet who combines traditional poetic meaning with modern poetry.This dissertation interprets Zhang Zao’s poetry from the perspective of the redevelopment of the classical poetic tradition,with a view to exploring the traditional poetic resources of this poet who lived abroad for a long time and the beauty of classical culture contained in his poetry.The thesis begins by looking at the classical poetic resources in Zhang Zao’s poetry to understand the reasons for the formation of Zhang Zao’s poetic consciousness and to explore the influence of the poet’s cross-cultural living environment and marginalised existential background on his poetic creation.Chapter 2 analyses the modern transformation of classical imagery in his poetry through specific texts,giving classical culture and traditional tropes a modern connotation and spirit,highlighting the poet’s unique personal qualities and poetic pursuits.The third chapter discusses Zhang Zao’s recreation of the classical mood in his poetry in terms of language.Zhang Zao’s view of language always pursues a wise and rounded beauty,and he also painstakingly polishes his poems in terms of word choice and refinement to make them precise and beautiful.Finally,the poetic value and historical significance of Zhang Zao’s poetry are summarised,and the poetic ideal of Zhang Zao’s poetic style,which is rich in rhetoric but simple in purpose,is explored,and Zhang Zao’s poetic writing is used to rethink and reflect on the fusion and development between classical Chinese poetic tradition and modern vernacular poetry.In summary,this paper provides an overall overview of the poetic resources of Zhang Zao’s poetic works with the classical poetic tradition,and grasps the classicality of Zhang Zao’s poetic texts from a close reading of his poetic texts,so as to consider the value and significance of Zhang Zao’s poetic pursuits,and to provoke poetry researchers and creators to think about whether the fusion of classical and modern can allow modern poetry to develop in a new way under the classical poetic tradition,and to contribute to the construction of a poetic system and norm for new Chinese poetry.It will also allow poetry researchers and creators to consider whether the fusion of the classical and the modern can allow modern poetry to develop in a new way under the classical poetic tradition,and provide reference and practical value for the construction of a poetic system and norm for new Chinese poetry.
