This report is based on the author’s simultaneous interpretation practice of the first day’s morning sessions of ICT Spring Fin Tech Summit 2021.The author simulated real meeting scenarios to conduct English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation.Based on the analysis of the recordings and transcripts, this report focuses on the case analysis of three categories of coping strategies to address relevant difficulties or problems.First, chunking and syntactic linearity could be adopted to deal with adverbial clause of comparisons and attributive clauses in the source language. With the above strategies, the author will grasp the structure of the source language, thus lifting the burden of memory and reducing information loss. Therefore the target language output can basically be synchronized with the source language.Secondly, omission and generalization can be helpful when encountering parallel structure and explanatory content in the source language.By organizing the information and seizing the most important message instead of all details, these two measures will be used to ensure the delivery of the general meaning. In addition to the strategies above, supplement and explicitation are also key coping tactics to address ambiguity and translationese in the target language.Adopting these methods will help the author generate more complete and clearer target language.By writing this practice report of English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting, the author intends to analyze and categorize the difficulties and problems in this practice, and summarize targeted coping strategies to provide guidance for my personal learning as well as contribute ideas and thoughts to related researches.
