The selected text of this translation practice report is excerpted from the fourth chapter of the work Climate Change Adaptation for Transportation Systems, written by Australian scholar Michael A.P.Taylor.This monograph mainly introduces the adaptation scheme of transportation system under climate change, which is used by transportation system planning agencies to make adaptation decisions for the impacts of climate change. This translation practice report summarizes the translation strategies of scientific and technological texts about transportation system planning from three dimensions:vocabulary, sentence and text, with their application in translating the translated materials. In terms of vocabulary,it mainly analyzes from such four aspects as term translation strategies, amplification, conversion and extension;at the sentence level,it mainly analyzes from three angles: parallel translation, split translation and passive voice;at the discourse level,it mainly analyzes text translation from the perspective of cohesion and coherence. The application of translation strategies in scientific and technological texts from multiple dimensions enriches the relevant practice in the field of transportation system planning under climate change. |
