Based on his critique of Western civilization,Jung made a unique study of the spiritual dilemmas faced by modern man. This paper takes Jung’s theory of spiritual crisis as the main line and focuses on the formation, content, essence and embodiment of its theory. On this basis, the path of spiritual salvation of modern people discussed in Jung’s spiritual crisis theory is sorted out and discussed. After entering the modern era,the development of science has brought about a high degree of prosperity in the rational and material world. While human beings enjoy the fruits of the development of civilization, war, the collapse of faith, the exchange and integration of Eastern and Western cultures, and the alienation of man and nature have caused modern people to fall into a crisis about personality: schizophrenia, psychological trauma, and moral decline. In his writings,Jung discusses the disappearance of myth with the development of reason, and the loss of the metaphysical spiritual security of modern man as a result of the drawing of God into the human world by science.Modern people who have lost their spiritual system of faith and self-dialogue begin to feel spiritual emptiness,a sense of purposelessness, and even nihilism in their lives. At the same time, with the deepening of the process of human socialization, personality development is also facing the problem of the characteristics of the times-external social requirements and people’s inner needs are constantly conflicting, resulting in modern people generally facing a kind of "neurosis".Jung also discussed the problem of personality masks displayed in people’s social life: if people cannot correctly deal with the contradiction between the socialized "me" and the real "me",it will lead to the expansion of the socialized personality mask, thereby suppressing the needs of other personality parts, thereby deepening the shadow of the individual, and eventually leading to personality splitting. After collecting and analyzing the manifestations of the spiritual crisis extensively,Jung proposed that the spiritual crisis is more of a spiritual and moral problem,so it cannot be solved by the development of science and reason.Jung thus leads the mind to turn one’s attention to the neglected spiritual realm. For Jung, spirit contains consciousness, the individual unconscious, and the collective unconscious. The main cause of modern man’s problems is the result of the development of consciousness.Until modern consciousness was a very fragmented existence,so Jung focused more on the relatively stable realm of the collective unconscious.Jung’s theory of the collective unconscious breaks Eurocentrism and shows a high degree of respect for other cultures.Jung believed that the common collective unconscious of all peoples of the world is the basic structure of the human mind and the psychological basis of the universal humanity of all mankind. He also drew the view of "yin and yang" from Chinese Taoist doctrine, contributed to his personality theory, and proposed that the role of both yin and yang should be paid attention to in the process of personality development.Only when these two achieve a dynamic equilibrium will the personality reach a harmonious and stable state. In discussing the exploration of the road of human spiritual salvation, this article first discusses Jung’s understanding of modern man and the ultimate goal of solving the spiritual crisis: modern society is not only the peak of the disaster brought about by the high development of technological civilization, but also contains new possibilities in the disaster.Modern man is a kind of person who perceives modern conditions, and the task of real modern man is to criticize the pseudo-modern people who play a negative role in social development in hidden society. So as to alert the general public and ultimately realize the salvation of self over spirit. Therefore, the ultimate goal of solving the spiritual crisis is to guide people towards a truly modern man,to help people regain the metaphysical security of the Middle Ages in the spiritual field, and to promote the perfection of personality. In the end,the small leads to the big, promotes social progress and development, and saves the spiritual crisis of modern people. This article mainly discusses three ways to help people solve the problem of mental crisis: first, psychotherapy.Jung emphasized that everyone has more or less psychological problems. The important purpose of the counselor is to help the patient reshape the mind and promote personal integrity through holistic thinking and individualized practice. The second is the positive impact of religion.Jung believed that religion,as an important part of the archetype of the collective unconscious, has played a role in spiritual support and moral indoctrination from ancient times to the present. As science developed, people began to reject the metaphysical ideas of traditional teachings. In this regard,Jung reinterpreted religious archetypes such as death,God,and the Trinity, and declared that modern man needed a religion that was in line with the times. This satisfies the need for spiritual safety and positioning in the universe. Finally, there is artistic pursuit.Jung believed that works of art can give people a kind of spiritual compensation. Thus helping people to obtain a sense of spiritual satisfaction in the material world that they are powerless to resist, awaken the primordial experience of sleeping in the soul, and thereby stimulate vitality and promote spiritual fulfillment. In short, based on the research results of previous people, this paper systematically explains Jung’s theory from the perspective of spiritual crisis.Mainly from the perspective of human spiritual salvation, how to save modern people who have suffered from alienation from the spiritual realm is discussed. With Jung’s unique perspective and strong humanist feelings, this paper provides an important reference dimension for enriching the current research field of cultural philosophy and the crisis of modernity.
