Starting from the early works of Axel Hornett,a representative of the third generation in Frankfurt, and Francis Fukuyama,an American political scholar, this paper briefly summarizes the philosophical basis of the early recognition theory.Based on the comparative analysis of the recognition theories in the struggle for Recognition and the End of History and the Last Man,this paper reveals the theoretical essence and practical dilemma of the recognition theories of Hornet and Fukuyama. In addition, from the perspective of the social construction of the recognition theory system, the author sees that the two have realized different political ethics turns and theoretical research systems under the same historical background, similar theoretical resources and similar critical analysis of the world political pattern.Fukuyama’s liberal democracy is a contradictory dilemma that he still cannot solve, while Hornett established a moralized recognition theory explanation between moral contempt and social resistance, which also makes his recognition theory lack solid practical factors. However,we cannot deny the special value of humanistic care in fukuyama and Honnett’s ideological and theoretical system and the construction of the current social moral and ethical system. The differences between Fukuyama and Hornett’s research paradigm and theoretical goals result in the differences in the degree of standardization of their theoretical systems and the reconstruction of social norms.Fukuyama’s recognition thought provides a collectivized solution for the construction of national political order and social governance. He values the significance of culture to society and individuals, but his theory lacks overall construction and practicality, but it still has a certain space for development. With the conception of justice of moral monism as the core and the realization of individual recognition and freedom as the goal,Hornett constructed an ethics with multiculturalism as the center and transcending the norms of morality and social groupism in the socio-cultural and political order.Fukuyama’s idea of recognition contains the crisis of social contradictions in capitalism and the dilemma of freedom and equality in contemporary capitalist society, while Honnett’s theory of recognition is the normative reconstruction of social justice and the appeal of individual rights, which is an urgent problem for China’s development at present. The comparative study of Honnett and Fukuyama’s recognition theory has certain guiding and enlightening effect on individual demand, social innovative governance and the construction of national political order in China. |
