An Analysis Of The Unreliable Narrative Techniques Of The Recurrent Layered Structure In Suspense Films

In recent years,there have been frequent and excellent suspenseful film and television works in China,with an increasing audience and enthusiastic response.Among them,the use of "unreliable narrative" techniques is becoming increasingly mature.In existing academic research,scholars pay more attention to its value in literary works,and a small amount of research on film and television texts is limited to the classification of "unreliable narrators".However,research on suspense texts focuses on the generation and construction of suspense,neglecting the ironic effects and ethical significance formed behind the story by using unreliable narrative techniques as a prerequisite for suspense generation.Based on the theoretical research of semiotics,narratology,film narratology,film psychology and so on,this paper clarifies the concepts of "unreliable narration" and "Implied author" in the film,and takes the suspense film with the recurrent nested structure as the research object,introduces the concepts of "non personal narrator" and "personal narrator",and examines the "discourse" transformation mechanism of the narrative subject through the vertical superposition of viewpoints and narrative layers,Analyze the multiple levels of layered structure and the natural connection between the narrative tricks of suspense movies and unreliable narratives.After learning from existing research and drawing on it,three major techniques for unreliable narration have been summarized,namely misleading and fictional,repetition and difference,disguise and misplacement.With theory guiding practice,the graduation work Beautiful Story has been completed.Specifically,misleading and fiction refer to the cognitive misleading of the narrator towards the audience from the emotional,narrative,and plot levels in order to create their own "credible" image;Repetition and difference are the multi-level narratives that result from different narrators describing the same event.The dislocation and reconstruction of information between levels immerse the audience in a complex and ever-changing narrative vortex;Camouflage and misplacement are to analyze from the audio-visual perspective that the big picture maker and the big voice maker,under the influence of the Implied author,conspire with the narrator to create a very realistic illusion to mislead the audience,and lay an important perceptual foundation for the final plot reversal and audience emotional withdrawal.The use of unreliable narrative techniques causes the receiver to jump out of the frame,actively think,achieve alienation in irony,consciously pursue the truth of the story,and experience the interactive pleasure brought by information deception.This article uses image text analysis and literature comparison research methods to combine layered structure with unreliable narration,and analyzes the aesthetic effects of three narrative techniques: reversing black and white,suppressing desire before restraint,believing it to be true,and reversing perception.Examining the relevant works with "unreliable narration",the audience can not be credulous or blindly follow in the process of watching,and can dig out the "implied meaning" of the narrator and Implied author.
