| In Hongdong County,Shanxi Province,the famous cultural shrine Guangsheng Temple holds a grand water temple festival every year on the 18 th day of the third month of the lunar calendar to express the people’s reverence for the water god.During the temple festival,in addition to the spectacular ritual scenes,it will also be accompanied by ceremonial music activities such as song and dance,opera and so on.The ritual music of the Water Temple is no longer just an activity for the locals,but a local tradition,a kind of inner and spiritual support.This paper takes the ritual music of the water temple as the research object,and studies it through the two levels of external expression and inner identity,so as to explore the cultural phenomena and meanings behind it.From the composition of the ritual music activities of the Water Temple,the geographical and cultural environment of the Water Temple is the basis of the existence of the ritual music;the Water Temple and its stage are important performance venues;the temple fairs and markets are important economic supports for its development;and the local people’s universal belief in the water god is the root of its existence.All musical expressions are aimed at psychological identification and reverence for the gods.Therefore,in order to achieve a good entertainment effect,gradually highlight the ritual and aesthetic taste of the performance,so that the performance and repertoire become more and more exciting.Objectively promoted the development of the temple fair,but also promoted the prosperity of ritual music and the perfect sustenance of the people’s psychology.This paper takes the water temple ceremony as a field investigation site,from the perspective of music,and gradually deconstructs the way,function and meaning of ritual music expression and its meaning in local cultural identity through the description and analysis of the rehearsal and performance of music in the ceremony. |
