This report based on the translation practice of Balancing Petroleum Policy(chapter 1),analyses the linguistic features of the petroleum English text type and discusses, under the guidance of Eco-translatology,the rationality of the translator’s adaptive transformation in translation from the linguistic, cultural, and communicative dimensions. Moreover, this report examines and summarises the translation methods of this text type from the three dimensions of Eco-translatology through the example analysis. In linguistic dimension, too many passive sentences are used in the source language, which should be converted into active voice in translation to comform to the habit of the target language. Therefore, more active sentences should be used to satisfy the norms of the requirements of the target language;in cultural dimension, textual information is sometimes repeated and translators should add some relevant contextual information or delete a specific word to better avoid misunderstanding;in communicative dimension, translators have to apply translation techniques and methods flexibly due to the differences in environmental background and language expression habits between East and West. Therefore, the discussion of Eco-translatology and its corresponding translation methods and techniques is significant in helping translators consider the feelings of target language readers more clearly and thus better improve the readability of the translation.
