| The essay is a practice report on the translation from Chinese to English based on documentary Songhua River.On the basis of the translation practice,the translator reflects on the translated content,and tries to explore the practical skills and methods of external publicity subtitle translation.Under the background of the Belt and Road Initiative,the historic Silk Road has come back into view.The Songhua River is used as the major focus of this documentary to examine its origin,which is significant to Northeast China and encourages the shared prosperity and growth of all ethnic groups in the region.In light of these possibilities and opportunities,Songhua River makes an effort to interpret the past of Northeast China from the standpoint of development,depict the present of Northeast China,and take care of its future.The content of this practice belongs to the documentary text variety.The language style of documentary is different from films and TV dramas,which is organized and planned.In the specific process of translating the subtitle of Songhua River,the translator combined the language of the documentary subtitle characteristics,translation techniques,translation methods and cultural differences to analyze the source text.Since the subtitle is presented in brief sentences,the translator built the two aspects of commentary and sound bite.The translation methods of literal translation,free translation,transliteration+annotation and so on are adopted for proper nouns and culture-loaded words in the commentary.On the other hand,the four-character structures adopt the translation techniques of omission and combination,which are logical and aesthetic.In the sound bite,the non-subject sentences and the colloquial translation reflect the local characteristics of the northeast culture.In order to make the expression more authentic,the translation techniques such as rhetorical device of hyperbole and adding subject can be used to deal with it.The translator hopes to promote the culture of Northeast China through the subtitle translation of this documentary subtitles,and let more domestic and international audiences have a more comprehensive understanding of Northeast China. |
