Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one of the most famous female writers in Nigeria today.Up to now,Adichie has published three novels--Purple Hibiscus,Half of a Yellow Sun and Americanah. These three novels show the diaspora of Nigerian people in the 20 th century either from the front or the side. The 20 th century was a turbulent time for the people of Nigeria. After a major civil war between 1967 and 1970 and the rise of a military junta in Babangida in the 1990 s,Nigerians were often uprooted from one part of the country to another in hopes of returning home.Or crossing borders in search of a peaceful life in Europe and the United States encountered many issues of race and identity."Diaspora" is not only a geographical leap, but also a cultural one. When western culture invades Africa,African people abandon their own national culture and devote themselves to foreign Western culture. They regard western culture as superior culture and their own national culture as inferior culture, thus entering a state of spiritual diaspora.Based on the phenomenon of diaspora in Adichie’s novel, this paper explores the reasons why Nigerian people embark on diaspora and the problems they encounter in diaspora, and focuses on how diaspora resist diaspora and their identity. This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, which mainly reviews the research status of Adichie and her works at home and abroad, and analyzes the concept of "diaspora",diaspora literature and the diaspora characteristics reflected in African English literature. The second part mainly analyzes the “physical diaspora” and “spiritual diaspora” reflected in Adichie’s novels. The third part mainly analyzes the consequences caused by the diaspora behavior; The fourth part mainly analyzes the various reasons for the phenomenon of Nigerian diaspora. The fifth part analyzes how emigrants resist diaspora by returning,“establishing cultural enclaves”,“seeking roots” and identifying themselves. The last part is the conclusion of this paper. On the one hand,it makes a summary of the content of this paper, and on the other hand,it clarifies the significance of this research content to the whole study of Adichie.
