In the exploration of aesthetic problems, the western traditional aesthetic circle has always been committed to seeking the ultimate beauty from the perspective of the objective subject.Until modern times, the Enlightenment movement flourished, the British empiricism rose, and people’s investigation of aesthetic problems gradually turned to the subject’s aesthetics. As a philosopher of this period,Hume took empiricism as his basic position, turned his attention to man himself, and put forward his philosophy of human nature creatively.Hume’s philosophical ideology of human nature mainly includes two parts: "reason" and "emotion",while the aesthetic problem is mainly related to "emotion",and the core of "emotion" lies in "sympathy",which is the channel for the generation and transmission of emotion. And clues run through Hume’s aesthetic thought all the time, from the field of aesthetics to the field of morality, the role of "sympathy" is inseparable.Based on "emotion",Hume established the theories related to art, beauty and aesthetics, and analyzed it.The establishment process of people’s moral principles and norms and the psychological operation mechanism. This paper is mainly divided into six chapters, the first chapter is the introduction, which is mainly an overview of the topic selection, briefly introduces the background and basis of the topic selection, the research status at home and abroad, and then proposes the content that the author will study, mainly including the research.Significance and goals, innovative points of the research, and key problems to be solved, and then propose the research methods to be used. The second chapter introduces the background of Hume’s aesthetic thought.First,it explains the era background of Hume’s aesthetic thought, and then sorts out the development process of empiricist aesthetic thought and the theoretical origin of emotionalism.Shaftesbury,Hutcheson and others’ influence on Hume, and then introduces Hume’s empiricism, skepticism philosophical stand and how his epistemology serves as the philosophical basis of his aesthetic thoughts. The third chapter expounds Hume’s sentimental aesthetic thought in more detail. From the analysis of the essence of beauty,to the analysis of aesthetic taste and how to establish the standard of taste, emotion as a clue runs through it all the time.Hume believes that in the aesthetic process,it is not reason, but emotion, that plays a leading role. The fourth chapter analyzes the relationship between beauty and virtue in Hume’s aesthetic thought. In Hume’s emotionalist aesthetic thought, both the sense of beauty and the sense of morality are the feelings of the human mind. The difference is only in the intensity of their emotional perception. And aesthetics and morality are closely related, and they both reflect a non-utilitarian attitude in the actual operation process. The fifth chapter expounds the influence of Hume’s aesthetic thought on later generations.Hume’s emotionalist aesthetic thought emphasizes the effect of human emotion and imagination on aesthetics and morality, which has a great influence on Kant’s thought.Kant was inspired by Hume and reconciled Empiricism and rationalism, pointed out that "beauty is a symbol of morality",and established the principle of "aesthetics is not beneficial",and Hume’s aesthetic thought has also produced more important scientism aesthetics and humanistic aesthetics in modern aesthetics.Impact.Finally,the article summarizes and points out the deficiencies.
