The Order In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight

In the context of the intensification of the epidemic and international conflicts,the society reveals a tendency towards disorder.How to manage the individual soul order and the national order,so as to have the justice order of the individual and the country and achieve the overall harmony of the society has become a proposition worthy of study.As a masterpiece of knight literature,Sir Gawain and the Green Knight contains not only the description of religion,contract and chivalry,but also the germination of European humanism,which implies the pioneer of human care in knight literature.Besides,the description of the soul order of Sir Gawain,the Green Knight and King Arthur,and the description of the order of Arthur city-state and Morgan city-state provides some reference ideas for today’s chaotic order.This study chooses Sir Gawain and the Green Knight as the object of text research,attempts to analyze the soul characteristics and class characteristics of Sir Gawain,the Green Knight,King Arthur,Mrs.Bertilak and Morgan,and discusses the different effects of different characteristics in the soul order,as well as the role of the moral virtue of different classes on the construction of the whole city-state order.Finally,it tries to tell the impact of having a justice order between the individual and the city-state on the overall harmony of the society.In addition to the introduction,this study is divided into three chapters.Chapter One mainly discusses the order and disorder of the personal soul of the protagonist Sir Gawain and the Green Knight in different city states.After attending the appointment,Sir Gawain mainly experienced three temptations: sexual desire,material desire and life desire.In the first two temptations,Gawain’s reason occupied the dominant position of the soul order,overcame the temptation of desire with the help of the influence of blood and gas,and temporarily maintained the stability of the soul order.However,in the third temptation,he accepted the green ribbon representing vitality,which means that his desire conquered reason and put his soul in a state of chaos and disorder.Chapter Two attempts to discuss the order construction of Arthur city-state and Morgan city-state.The two city states have three classes of rulers,guardians and producers.In Arthur city-state,the rulers have the virtue of wisdom,the producers have the virtue of moderation,while the guardians do not have the virtue of courage.In Morgan city-state,the rulers do not have the virtue of wisdom,the producers do not have the virtue of moderation,while the guardians have the virtue of courage.The construction of the two city-states has different manifestations.Chapter Three mainly analyzes the process of the protagonist Sir Gawain and the city-state regaining the justice order.Under the command of reason,Sir Gawain finally confessed his sin to the Green Knight,defeated his own desire again,and had the justice of his own soul.Under the influence of the wisdom and virtue of the ruling class,Arthur city-state also forgave Sir Gawain’s disorderly behavior,regained the justice order of the city-state,achieved the overall harmony and stability of the society,which reflects that the establishment of the justice order requires the interaction and joint action between the individual soul and the city-state order.This study comprehensively analyzes the protagonists’ soul order and the construction of the city-state order of the two city states,which reflects that the soul order needs to make reasonable arrangements for desire and blood gas under the command of reason in order to maintain stability and can form its own justice when contributing to the justice order of the city-state.The city-state requires the rulers to give full play to their wisdom,reasonably guide the guardians to carry forward the courage,and guide the producers to carry forward the moderation virtue,so as to stabilize the order,make all levels of the city-state harmonious and unified,and achieve the overall justice of the city-state order.It is concluded that the justice order of the city-state and the soul achieves each other and is indispensable.
