The new HSK was officially used in 2009,and has made remarkable achievements in all aspects.As an international authoritative Chinese language test,New HSK has played an irreplaceable role in the international promotion of Chinese language and enhancing the understanding of China among countries around the world.Compared with other well-known language tests that have lasted for a long time in the world,the new HSK has a relatively short development time,and there is still room for progress in the development and testing.At present,there are relatively insufficient comparative studies on new HSK and other foreign language tests in China,especially the comparative analysis between new HSK and Cambridge General Certificate 5(MSE).The introduction of the Common Framework of Reference for the European Language(CEFR)provides a new perspective and basis for the comparative analysis of the new HSK and other languages tests.The new HSK(Level 4)and MSE Level 3 —— English First Certificate Test(FCE)are the most representative tests with the largest number of applicants in the two grades.This paper compares the new HSK(level 4)and FCE as the standard,and combines statistical analysis and comparative research to analyze the commonalities and differences between the two tests in testing the whole and reading questions.The full text is divided into five chapters: the first chapter is an introduction,mainly from the cause of the topic,the purpose and significance of the research,research status and research methods.The second chapter introduces and compares the new HSK and MSE as a whole.A brief overview of the development of the two languages,the common level standard,and the correspondence between the three.Chapter 3 selects two kinds of middle and senior examinations under the European frame standard,namely the new HSK(Level 4)and FCE examination,to compare and analyze the two aspects in the examination outline,test composition,score evaluation and test purpose.Chapter 4 is a comparative study of the new HSK(level 4)and the FCE reading sections.The structure of reading questions,reading questions type and subject matter type of the two tests are compared and analyzed.The fifth chapter is a summary of the above comparative analysis results.First,the advantages and disadvantages of new HSK level 4 and FCE are summarized,and then the enlightenment on the development and promotion of new HSK,the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language and the international promotion of Chinese are summarized through comparative research,and finally put forward suggestions for improvement.
