Abstract/Summary:
Emotion is a psychophysiological process that arises from people’s perceptions of things and events.It’s a crucial part of human psychology that has an impact on people’s decisions and behaviors.As societal pressure has increased in recent years,a rising number of people have experienced emotional illnesses and mental health issues.Individuals who struggle with emotional management are more prone to develop mental illnesses.Emotion induction can give more evident emotional modal data for emotion detection as an experimental tool for directly exploring the psychological process of emotion.It can give easy-to-understand emotional signals in practice,which can help psychologists manage patients with emotional problems in the future.In the aspect of emotion induction,virtual reality(VR)technology can imitate complex,real-world situations,and has a stronger sense of immersion compared with emotional video,making it a more effective way of emotional induction for affective brain-computer interface(BCI).In the aspect of emotion recognition,electroencephalography(EEG)is a better method for emotion recognition than other kinds of information sources because it is sensitive,difficult to disguise,and the recognition results are objective and truthful.By directly collecting and identifying EEG signals,BCI creates a new information communication channel between the human brain and computers or other electronic devices,which may be used as a reliable real-time emotion recognition method.The study of this paper focuses on emotion induction and its application based on BCI and VR:1)A VR simulation game for emotional induction was designed and implemented with the three emotions of happiness,anger,and relaxation,to improve the effect of emotional induction.The average accuracy in the VR-game-induced test of the emotioninduced test experiment is 62.25 percent,higher than 59.79 percent in the video-induced test,as calculated from the effective data in the emotion induction test experiment.And the SAM scale data of subjects in the VR-game-induced test performed better than in the video-induced test.It suggested that the VR games designed in this paper is better than the video material in inducing the three emotions of happiness,anger,and relaxation.2)VR-game-based emotion inducing materials are used for emotion regulation training,and an BCI-based emotion regulation training system is designed and implemented by integrating the emotional feedback results into the VR game scene.In addition,by improving the game mechanism,a training method of emotion regulation is designed,which can improve the effect of single training procedure by setting the target score of emotion regulation and extending the training time appropriately for the emotion types that are not easily to be stimulated.Four subjects were divided into two group and then they involved in the control experiment.In the three emotional imagination tests after training,the test accuracy,and the improvement ranges of subjects in the VRgame group were both higher than those in the video group,indicating that the training method designed in this paper has a higher improvement effect on emotional regulation ability in a short time than the video training with a fixed duration.In addition,it can be seen from the induction accuracy of subjects in the adjustment training that the emotion-inducing materials could have a better auxiliary effect on emotion regulation when they are used for the second time.
