Abstract/Summary:
During the Warring States period,the country was divided and the territory changed frequently,which also made the characters’ style tend to be diversified.There are great differences in the forms of characters in different countries and regions,and there are also obvious differences in the format of inscriptions,which can be reflected in the inscriptions of the Warring States Period.In recent years,with the increase of unearthed literature of the Warring States,the research on the division of the characters of the Warring States Period has gradually refined and deepened.Mr.Wu Zhenfeng has published his book named “The Third part of Shang and Zhou Dynasties Bronze Inscriptions and Images Collection”(hereinafter referred to as“The third part”)in August 2020,collected 312 new Warring States inscriptions from June 2015 to December 2019,including 205 inscriptions on weapons,accounting for about 66%,and 145 inscriptions on unrecorded artifacts,accounting for about 46%.Divided into early,middle and late Warring States period according to the era,among which the late Warring States period includes 28 fuzzy inscriptions from the Qin Dynasty to the early Western Han Dynasty.According to the region,it is further divided into five parts,which are Chu,Jin,Qin,Qi and Yan.The research object of this paper is the 304 Warring States inscriptions collected in the“The Third Part”,and the lower limit of the data involved is by the end of 2021.The meanings of eight engraving symbols(numbered 1359—1363,1596,1661 and 1031)is unclear,so they will not be studied.This paper is mainly composed of the following parts.The first chapter is an introduction.The first part of the introduction mainly defines the time and space of the “Warring States Inscriptions” discussed in this paper.The second part of the introduction mainly introduces and explains the research scope,research method and research significance of this paper.The third part of the introduction is mainly a review of the research on inscriptions of the Warring States Period from 2016 to 2021.Due to the large amount of data involved,for the convenience of description,it is divided into data description,comprehensive research,research by region and country,etc.to be introduced in detail.Among them,there are many new materials on the inscriptions on weapons of the Warring States Period,so the research results are correspondingly richer.Chapter two to seven is the edit and proving of Warring States inscriptions collection from the book.They can be divided into Chu,Jin,Qin,Qi,Yan and unknown inscriptions,and they are summarized and sorted,with a total of 304 inscriptions,and each chapter is sorted according to the time sequence.The comment contains the study of the character pattern,the information of official system,the administrative division and the age of the utensils,also tries to make a tendentious judgment.The appendix is a catalogue that lists out the abbreviation and the corresponding full name of books mentioned in the paper,which is convenient for readers to find the provenance of pictures and check the relevant information.
