Research On The Development Of Lacquer Painting In Shaanxi Province In The Past Ten Years (2009-2019

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,Chinese lacquer painting has been developing gradually with the concern and promotion of the Party and the government,making agreeable achievements from the incubation,exploration and developing periods to the current days.From the late 20^thcentury,lacquer painting has occupied a special status in the history of Chinese contemporary art.With the predecessors’unremitting efforts and exploration,lacquer painting was regarded as an independent category of fine art,for the first time in 1984,joining the family of painting in the 6^thNational Exhibition of Fine Arts,which brought Chinese lacquer painting into a new era.Lacquer painting of Shaanxi started up relatively late,and developed slowly with full of ups and downs.It had experienced both the transient prosperity in 1980s and the retrogression in 1990s.In 1985,Professor Beixin Zhan from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts,as the chief designer,worked with Qunchao Li,Yongzhe Shi and Naiyuan Huang to create a large lacquer mural for the waiting building of Xi’an Railway Station.Additionally,Tao Guo from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts was the pioneer,who firstly joined the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1994,and gained a medal for Shaanxi Province.However,due to the small creative team and lack of groups,lacquer painting of Shaanxi regressed back to silence after the transitory jollification in the middle of1990s.In this dissertation,the development of lacquer painting in the last decade（2009-2019）in Shaanxi Province is concerned,in order to study and discuss about the lacquer painting phenomenon in Shaanxi Province.The lacquer painting of Shaanxi Province started to experience a renaissance from 2009,in the aspects of the number of participants and the selected works in every large nationwide exhibition.Some institutes of higher education in the province gradually attached importance to the training of lacquer painting professionals and the building of creative teams.The course of lacquer painting had been set up in Shaanxi Normal University,Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts,Xi’an Polytechnic University,Xijing University,Xi’an Peihua University and so on.Lacquer painting of Shaanxi obtained the developing opportunities in the new era,benefiting from the foundation of the Artists Committee of Lacquer Painting,Shaanxi Artists Association in May 2016,and Professor Yukang Hu’s election（from Shaanxi Normal University）as a member of the Lacquer Paining Committee of China Artists Association in Jan 2017.These beneficial moves gained the development chances and discourse power for lacquer painting of Shaanxi from the national lacquer painting circle.This study focused on the development of lacquer painting from 2009 to 2019 in Shaanxi Province,via the collection and arrangement of relative literature,sorting the evolution process of lacquer painting in Shaanxi.In addition,with the research and deliberation about the development status of Shaanxi lacquer painting,the reasons causing the enhancement in the last decade were expounded to recognise its growth mode and direction.Although lacquer painting of Shaanxi has achieved great development during the last 10 years（2009-2019）,it still has many drawbacks,confronting plenty of issues.To resolve these predicaments and deficiencies,the writer proposed several feasible suggestions for the further improvement of lacquer painting of Shaanxi.The last section of this dissertation is the expectation for the development of lacquer painting in Shaanxi Province.There are abundant reserves of superior lacquer and profound art resources in Shaanxi,and lacquer painting of Shaanxi is also an important part of Chinese lacquer art.Therefore,lacquer painting of Shaanxi can be definitely brought onto a higher level,if the resources and advantages are utilised sufficiently,with the help of the experience and benefits from the other provinces.
