In recent years, communication and exchanges between China and Thailand have become increasingly close, and more and more Thai students have begun to learn Chinese. All preliminary education institutions have to offer Chinese courses. Therefore,in Thailand,Chinese textbooks for Thai students with zero starting points are more popular. Some scholars believe that school books that are available with a lot of practice are helpful to Chinese learners,so many Thai Chinese textbooks will focus on designing various exercises.Based on three years of experience teaching Chinese as a second language, the author found that in the Chinese school books in Thailand, there are many exercises on language elements, but these are a few exercises aimed at improving the skills of Chinese as a second language. In addition, most of the practice in the Chinese textbooks needs to be explained by teachers before students can master them. However, among the Chinese as second language learners in Thailand, there are also quite a few self-learners of Chinese as a second language, and many of them are students with zero starting point of Chinese. What kind of practice can be made them achieve the best Chinese second language learning effect? It’s a question worth thinking of it.In addition, this article intends to describe, classify and count the exercises in "Elementary Chinese"(Books 1 and 2)from the three aspects of the language element exercises, including the number of questions, question types, and skill-based practices, and analyze the after-class practice of the textbook.Design and exercise arrangement, evaluate them, combine the results of questionnaires conducted with Thai students and interviews with Thai Chinese teachers, and put forward optimization suggestions for after-school practice in this textbook, aiming to design, design, and improve training for Thai Chinese textbooks writers. The arrangement of lesson exercises provides the corresponding reference, and better lesson exercises are designed so that after completing the lesson,Thai students can better grasp the consistent key teaching content and improve the Chinese language skills of Thai students. At the same time, the author hopes that this article can also help Chinese teachers to understand some problems encountered by Thai students in the process of practicing. In terms of the number of practice questions for language elements,"Elementary Chinese" is relatively rich in practice questions, but the arrangement part of practice questions is not balanced, and the amount of practice questions in each class is also unevenly arranged. In terms of language element type practice questions, the practice questions of "Elementary Chinese" are mainly for Thai Chinese beginners, and the setting of practice questions is not the same, and it needs to be further improved. In terms of language skills exercises,"Elementary Chinese" is not good enough for listening exercises, and there are no diversified exercises for speaking exercises,so there are not many types of writing exercises that enable learners to organize their language.
