The Performance And Application Of Powder-printed Woodcut Technique In My Creation

The development of printmaking is closely related to traditional Chinese woodblock printing.Powder-printed woodcut is an essential composition of traditional printmaking.With the development of history,the evolution of techniques and the innovation of materials,the types of printmaking gradually get diversified,and the powder-printed woodcut is paid more and more attention and favor.The artistic effect of powder-printed woodcut integrate the ones of watermarking and oil-printing,while its special texture and color show its unique charm,The flexible creation technique in powder-printed woodcut can also make the creator overcome the inherent way of thinking in printmaking creation,and thus present the surprising picture effect in the works.The combination of different color blocks and lines forms a picture rich in rhythm,while its unique decorative visual effect and mottled picture texture triggers the author’s thinking on the theme about ethnic minorities.The author takes "Miao Nian" as the theme,and create a series of works.The first piece shows the beauty of Miao women’s quietness and the luxuriousness of Miao costumes;the second one shows the lively scene of Lusheng dance;the third one shows the bullfight of Miao people;the fourth one shows the banquet with thousands of people along a long table;and the fifth one shows the backstage of a stage performance.In the creation,the author uses the unique color language and texture effect in powder-printed woodcut to highlight the local environment and customs of the Miao ethnic group.The glory in the history of Miao ethnic group is emphasized by combining the special composition,flexible creation techniques and fine depiction on Miao women’s clothing.The author gains deeper understanding of the unique charm of powder-printed woodcut,by applying the relevant technique in the creation witht the theme of ethnic group.
