Compared with the Tang Dynasty, the calligraphers of the Northern Song Dynasty represented by Su,Huang and Mi pursued a more innocent, free and harmonious realm in calligraphy. This style is called "Shangyi" style of calligraphy by later generations, and has far-reaching influence. In the Yuan Dynasty, this "Shangyi" style of calligraphy appeared bleak with the popularity of retroism. When later generations mentioned the history of calligraphy in the Yuan Dynasty, they often paid more attention to the influence of "retroism".The research on the acceptance and development of the stage is slightly insufficient. In fact, the calligraphy style of the Song Dynasty was "belittled" in the early days,re-examined by calligraphers in the middle period, and favored by the group of hermit calligraphers in the late period. It played a different and important role in each stage of the calligraphy history of the Yuan Dynasty.First, the main object of this paper is the calligrapher who learned from the Song people in the Yuan Dynasty.By analyzing their calligraphy practice, the author explores the actual development of the Song people’s calligraphy in the Yuan Dynasty. The other is the calligrapher who has significant comments on the calligraphy of song people in the Yuan Dynasty.By summarizing their views in the inscriptions, postscripts and books, this paper explores and excavates the acceptance of calligraphy of Song Dynasty by Yuan people. The study of the Yuan calligrapher’s understanding and practice of the Song calligrapher’s calligraphy under the background of restoring ancient ways may also have a certain enlightenment on how to better learn from the Song calligrapher today.
