The shaping of people’s image is an important part of traditional figure painting.Compared with a large number of noble images in traditional figure painting, the expression of people’s image is mature later, and the quantity is not as good as the former. With the development of economy and productivity in Ming and Qing dynasties, artists from lower and middle classes who came from humble backgrounds gradually entered the mainstream art stage. They not only depict works that serve emperors and markets, but also look around and depict ordinary people and ordinary people of the lower class. The appearance of this kind of works is bound to be different from the starting point of depicting other images.Based on the analysis of works depicting people’s images in Ming and Qing Dynasties, combined with the influence of social status, cultural background, painter’s identity and other factors in Ming and Qing Dynasties, this paper analyzes the causes of such works, observes the characteristics of people’s images and the humanistic feelings behind them, and provides a learning direction for me to better grasp the characteristics of people’s images in life when creating realistic figure paintings.
