| This paper takes the form and style of Japanese book binding at the end of the19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century as the research object.Starting from the printing technology and book binding technology in modern Japan,and the analysis of the works of famous book binding artists in modern Japan,this paper studies and expounds the object,means,concept characteristics and development changes of Japanese modern book binding by combining the traditional Japanese art of Fukuda,the European art design movement,the influence of Chinese traditional culture and the integration of Chinese and Japanese culture.Through the vertical historical perspective and horizontal social dimension perspective,this paper studies the form and style of modern Japanese book binding in the dual perspective of history and reality.This paper analyzes the differences between book binding and book design,and the transformation process from book binding to book design.Examples prove that from the professional practice of book design to the comprehensive and integrated development of design,book binding designers promote the transformation and innovation of book art form and style.From the art field(different schools,techniques),design field(different materials,techniques)to absorb different resources,from the art form of modernist art movement,to pay attention to the overall spatial structure of books;the art of printing from Ukiyo-e with oriental charm to Japanese books.How contemporary book design from a hundred years ago to achieve a ’ blend of Eastern and Western styles ’ in the form of Japanese style,the direction of success in the important inspiration,so that Japan ’ s late nineteenth Century early twentieth Century book design style become a wonderful chapter of modernism art movement. |
