| Nowadays,the aging problem is prominent in the world,and the demand for institutional pension is increasing.Cognitive decline in the elderly,the face of complex environments,pathfinding has become a major problem.The architectural space function of elderly care institutions is complex,which needs to improve the effective identification system to facilitate the elderly’s life.However,there is a lack of research on the identification system of medical and elderly care institutions.Using evidence-based design method,this paper collects the data from the status quo and use evaluation.Qingdao,Shanghai,Zhengzhou and Kaifeng were selected as the research cities,and 6institutions were selected as the research cases.On-site observation focused on the existence status of the logo in the empirical environment,including the setting point of the logo,the clarity of the map;the internal understandability;the functional attributes,security and warmth of the logo.The methods of data collection include taking photos on the spot and actually measuring,and using the 5-level Lake method to quantify the relevant indicators.At the same time,through the questionnaire collection of elderly residents on the evaluation of the existing signs.According to the investigation and research,the signs in the case institutions are usually located near the entrances and exits,mostly on the ceiling,at the doors of rooms,on the walls of corridors and on the ground.The overall status of the existing marks of the case institutions was good,and the average scores were as follows: map definition 2.83,safety 3.36 and warmth 3.28.The functions of the sign mainly include passage direction,medical management,public management,medical guidance,safety exit guidance,and other functions such as life management,safety warning,education,etc.The background color of the logo is mainly blue,red,white,yellow and green,while the Chinese characters,numbers or letters,graphs and symbols in the logo are mainly white and green.The material of the sign is mainly plastic,metal,wood and paper.The overall design style of the logo is mainly modern and simple.The seniors had a good evaluation of the existing logos.The average values of 7 aspects were as follows:cognition 3.55,necessity 4.02,position appropriateness 3.70,easy to understand 3.38,size appropriateness3.33,color recognition 3.41 and character recognition 3.41.Based on the empirical data,this study summarizes the status quo of the case institution identification system and its environment,clarifies the needs of elderly residents,and puts forward optimization recommendations.According to the on-the-spot observation and questionnaire survey,the problems existing in the existing identification system can be summarized in five aspects:(1)The location of the identification points is not coherent and eye-catching enough;(2)The color contrast is low,the text size is small,and the clarity of the drawing surface is low;(3)The graphic symbol content is missing,and most of them only use words;(4)The function is single,and there are few signs with sound,light and electronic functions;and(5)The safety of the identification signs themselves is low,and the weight of the signs installed on the outer wall of the building is of great danger of falling and hurting people.Indoor signs easily damaged,damaged may appear sharp edges cut elderly.To solve these problems,this study proposed the following 5optimization strategies.1)The setting points of the marks shall be conspicuous and consistent,and pay attention to the integrity,consistency and richness.2)The drawing surface of the mark shall be clear.3)The contents of logos shall be simple and easy to understand and be standardized.4)The functions of the logo can be diversified,and the complexity and intelligence of the logo shall be paid attention to.5)The labeled products themselves shall be safe,pay attention to barrier-free design and consider their warmth.This study focuses on the status quo of the sign system in the elderly care institutions,collects and analyzes the empirical data,finds out the existing problems,and puts forward optimization strategies and suggestions.The research results provide a scientific basis for the aging development of the identification system,which can be used by researchers and elderly practitioners. |
