The real development of the Japanese emperor system began with the establishment of the Meiji government.According to the legal norms promulgated by the Meiji government,Japan formed the modern imperial system militarism. After the Japanese fascists infiltrated the government departments, the imperial system was combined with fascism, resulting in the extremely expansionary imperial system fascism. The Japanese people in the imperial system of fascism under the induction, began a short and crazy road of external expansion. The emperor turned against the world in order to achieve his dream of becoming the "supreme King of the world," which ended in a disastrous defeat.Under international law at the time,Emperor Showa had to stand trial, but his name was not on the Tokyo tribunal that tried Japanese war criminals, largely because the United States shielded the Emperor. At the end of the Second World War,there was a controversy within the American government about how to deal with the Emperor and the emperor system of Japan. There were voices calling for the abolition of the emperor system, and also voices calling for the preservation and further use of the emperor system. With the emergence of an international cold War mentality and the need for the American occupation of Japan, the American authorities decided to deal with the issue in a compromise way: keep the imperial system, but make the emperor "real and virtual".On the one hand, the occupation forces of the United States operated in various ways during the Tokyo trial, and cooperated with the Japanese government to urge Emperor Showa to escape the trial. On the other hand,it also guided the Japanese government to reform the imperial system in all directions by eliminating the sacredness of the emperor, eliminating the privileges of the emperor and denying the paternalistic characteristics of the emperor. The emperor no longer has real power, but only becomes the symbol of the Japanese state. The transformation of the Japanese emperor and emperor system by the United States not only had a profound influence at that time, but its influence still lingers today.Because Hirohito did not face the punishment he deserved at the Tokyo trial, and even remained as emperor,it sent a signal to the world, and especially to the Japanese, that not being tried meant that the emperor was innocent.Since the emperor is innocent, the people who are the emperor are also innocent. This idea has been fermenting in Japan over time, and many Japanese people, encouraged by right-wing elements, have long advocated the "innocence theory" of Japan.Under the influence of this erroneous concept,Incidents such as "textbooks" and "visits to the Yasukuni Shrine" occurred successively in Japan, which not only profoundly affected the Japanese people’s sense of war responsibility, but also seriously hindered the friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Japanese people and peace and stability in East Asia and the world at large...
