As one of the commonly used musical forms in the classical period, sonata form contains the unique characteristics of logical dialectics and contradictory contrast, which makes it maintain strong vitality in the long history of hundreds of years. As a bridge structure between the main theme and the sub theme, the connecting part carries the inheritance of musicality and tonality, and plays an important role in constructing and deepening the comparative nature between the main and sub themes.Taking the typical and variant sonata forms as an example, this paper points out the regular characteristics of the design of the connecting part in function and form, makes a classified discussion according to the different writing methods and forms of the connecting part, and explores the structural correlation between music creation by connecting the structural characteristics of the musical form and the internal design of the connecting part. The article mainly focuses on the following two aspects:in terms of function, the connecting part reflects the characteristics of obeying the conception of the overall musical form, forming an internal phased functional division. In different types of sonata forms, this division has a certain elasticity and regularity. On the other hand, the material design of the connecting part also reflects the internal tension, forming structural sentences with the help of playing method and strength.Beethoven is a milestone composer in the classical period.Under his pen,the sonata form can be shaped and developed.Through his piano works,he can more clearly discuss the detailed design of the connecting part. Therefore, this paper attempts to take Beethoven’s piano sonata as an example to analyze the connecting part from the macro and micro perspectives.
