| The source text of the report is an academic paper "Auction Research Evolving:Theorems and Market Designs" which was published on the fifth issue of the magazine American Economic Review in 2021.And the author of that paper Paul Milgrom was the Nobel Prize winner in economics in 2020.This academic text, with many long sentences and professional terms, contains a lot of difficult information and professional knowledge in economics, manifesting an advanced exploration of action research in modern times. This report is based on Skopos theory, such as the skopos rule, the coherence rule and the loyalty rule,as the theoretical basis. And we adopt case analysis to discuss the translation methods that could contribute to realizing the purpose of translation conditional on faithfully conveying the information of the original text, and to bringing academic thoughts of the original to the translation and reproduce the writing style of the original.Under the guidance of skopos rule,we use the methods of amplification, omission, division and annotation to make the translation being worked in a way that target readers expect;under the guidance of coherence rule, the methods of adaption and substitution are served to make the translation contextually coherent with the acceptability and readability;under the guidance of the loyalty rule, the methods of repetition and literal translation are designed to remain the faithfulness to the original. Thus, corresponding translation methods are adopted to specifically analyze the issues reflected in the translation, striving for fluency in the translation.Although the professional content of economic texts brings great challenges to the translator in understanding, the three rules of Skopos theory provide the translator with multi-dimensional translation theoretical support and useful strategies. The resulting translation is not only faithful to the original text, but also takes into account the reading expectancy of target readers,so as to make the translation play its due role in the target language environment. |
