This translation practice material is excerpted from Visual Cultural Adaptation:Images,Texts,and Their Multiple Worlds by Julie Grossman and R.Barton Palmer.Nowadays,culture is dominated by visual culture.With the arrival of "visual culture era",a large number of original screenplays and literary works are being adapted for readers and audiences in the form of films or televisions.The original text describes the complexity and diversity of adaptation and how it plays a key role in the operation of film,television,art and print media.This translation practice report mainly consists of four parts.The first part is the description of translation task,which includes the source of translation practice materials,the introduction of the author,the work and the significance of the topic;The second part is the description of the translation process,which mainly records the translation process,including the preparation before the translation,the key and difficult points in the translation,and the revision,polishing and finalization of the translation.The third part is the case study,which analyzes the examples from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.The fourth part is the summary of the translation report,which reflects on the problems encountered in the translation practice and summarizes the experience.Through this translation practice,the translator learned how to solve the difficult problems encountered in the translation process,summarized the relevant translation methods and skills,and accumulated translation experience.At the same time,the writer realize that translators should improve their bilingual level and expand their encyclopedic knowledge if they want to be qualified translators.It is hoped that this translation practice report can provide some references for scholars in the field of adaptation.
