Huo Huiliang has been publishing his works since the early nineties,and he has been writing for nearly thirty years.Although Huo Huiliang is not a prolific writer,he has enthusiastic and rigorous writing attitude in his creation,forming his own creative characteristics with steady and simple writing,rich and natural style,and distinctive regional cultural imprints.Huo Huiliang was born and grown up in the countryside.Although he has left the countryside now,his creations are still rooted in Xiji-Haiyuan-Guyuan area,where he was born.He has always paying attention to the developing and changing rural areas,and has always insisting on exploring the changes of the countryside in the collision between the countryside and the city,tradition and modernity,pursuing the lost traditions and displaying the internal pain of the countryside.Huo Huiliang writes about people living in the countryside with a deep local spirit,and looks into the living and spiritual state of people in the rural world through his novels.In addition,Huo Huiliang’s fictional world is always close to the times by exploring the hidden humanity through the surface of life,showing the celebration of good humanity and the criticism of human alienation,with a strong humanistic concern and humanistic sentiment.This paper focuses on Huo Huiliang’s novel creation,discusses and interprets the unique charm and value of Huo Huiliang’s novel through reading and analysing in detail.The paper analyzes and discusses from three aspects:The first part summarizes the creative process and overall style of Huo Huiliang’s novels,discusses and analyzes the causes of the creative characteristics of Huo Huiliang’s novels from two aspects:the local sentiment and the background of his growth.The second part summarizes the theme of Huo Huiliang’s local novels,interprets and analyzes the ideological connotation of Huo Huiliang’s local novels from three aspects:the rural society during the great changes of the times,the elegy of the loss of rural traditional culture and the rich complex exploration of human nature.The third part focuses on the characters and their portrayal in Huo Huiliang’s novels.In terms of characterization,the most successful aspect of Huo Huiliang’s novels is the creation of two types of farmers,the watchful and the rebellious ones.
